(SOLD) ATOMIC CAFE – HO SCALE w/ CUSTOM DECALS

This is a Downtown Deco Kit the Atomic Cafe in HO – it comes with paper decals and as you know I make decals so that just would not do for me and I made a custom set for it with is available if you just get with me it’s $10 set and comes with most all the decals on the building, there are a few not on the set but I can fix that if you talk to me nice. ūüôā
Unfortunately I dropped this (I know, right?) and one of the lights on the sign stopped working and after checking and checking and checking again it was decided to just let it go … it was going to be to much work to change it as the light was build into the sign and sealed in a bath of glue. Still looks OK though!

This is already sold but other will be available upon request….

(SOLD) URBAN RENEWAL SOUP KITCHEN

Every model build should have a story and here is this one …

An old (Walther’s) White Tower’s Restaurant that closed down due to a slow economy had set empty for a while and fell into disrepair and became adorned with graffiti, but it was bought by a local charity and is in the process of being fixed up, cleaned up and reopened as the temporary announcement banners say a community soup kitchen for the downtrodden. Workers toil way painting the building and more supplies have just been delivered with a few passer-byes and one of the charity worker checking the progress of the work.

As for the model … this has a footprint of 5 1/2″ X 6″ and is a little over 3 1/4″ tall, lit with 1 LED cool white bulb, 8 figures included and attached (4 painters, 2 sidewalk citizens, 1 inside and 1 on looker). Custom and hand painted graphics, several add-ons with a few hand-made parts.

Interested or have question please fell free to contact me.

(SOLD) PASSENGER CAR DINER

Here is a build I made for a gentleman from a 1960’s Walther’s passenger car and converted to a diner – this was a wood and metal car with a scratch build add on, custom details, custom decals, and a few other custom pieces. ¬†As with everything I build I always see things I would have done differently, would have done better and changes I would have made but that is the process of constantly improving. ¬†I never think the pictures look as well as the actual build and I never photoshop images.

(SOLD) FLY INN BAR HO SCALE BUILDING

Ever screw up? I know I do and I forgot to remove a sold model from my store site that had been for sale for a few week and and as soon as I sold it off the store site I sold it on the store site … OOPS! So I had to try to build a suitable replacement right and after talking to the customer I designed a new logo and signage for this build to rename it to a building they grew up with.

A here are the results …

(SOLD) BIKER BAR IN OLD HARLEY SHOP

Decided to build an old Harley Davidson Motorcycle Shop and turn it into a biker bar … all custom mad decals for this build and I have a decal set available this is built off of DPM’s Cutting’s Scissor Company kit. The lights on the first floor are warm white and the the lights on the second floor change and flash through about 9 different colors and the one exterior light on the main sign and basic white. Really wish I could find small lights but as of now the tiny ones are still too expensive to use.

(SOLD) Downtown Deco’s Addams Ave Part III

This is my version of Downtown Deco’s Addams Ave Part III kit, it’s made from hydrocal (plaster) and comes with assorted signage and stuff that I opted not to use. Most of the detail parts I made and the decals are from my line. The fire escape is from Tichy, one of the ladders is from Central and the short roof pipe is from Walthers Roof Detail kit. Overall not a bad kit you just have to be careful since it’s plaster you could break it, best to glue it up with Epoxy and to prime it before painting. There is no building divider between the buildings, I used some foam board topped with masking tape. Hand painted in acrylics and sealed with flat clear sealer.

(SOLD) SMALLVILLE USA (RIX PRODUCTS) TINA TART SHOP

I didn’t plan on writing a review of this kits so I didn’t not wake content and progress photos.

Anyway, this is the first Smallville USA Kit from Rix Product in Evansville, Indiana that I’ve built. This wasn’t a bad little kits but it did have it’s problems – overall it assembles like any DPM kit, 4 walls and a roof. Flashing was minimal and drift edge were to be as expected. The walls are a little thinner I like, so you don’t have as much contact area to support the walls and you make want to add some styrene rod in the corners for better results. It did come with a balcony which I thought was a little small and the balcony floor a little to thick … to meaty, the building itself seemed a little under-size for HO, but in scale modeling there are two sizes … “scale size” and “actual size” which generally means don’t be a rivet counter. The detail was OK, the brick could have had a little more definition and the window¬†mullion were WAY to thick to the point that they looked more like prison bars. I may cut these out on future builds and use Ticky Train¬†windows. ¬†The kit comes with printed and laminated paper signage and window dressing which I opted not to use as it was a little to ‘toy-like/cheesy’ in appearance, so instead I used clear plastic and dressed it a little myself with the thickness of the windows mullions you can’t see the window ‘glass’ anyway. So I’m giving it a 6.5 out of 10. I’ve built far worse kits and I’ve built far better, but for it’s price point ($16.95) it is more than acceptable and yields good results.

(SOLD) RIVOLI THEATER FINISHED

Here is a building that I’ve made full side decals for each one. I choose to leave the back as if they decided not to remodel it or they ran out of money … either tends to be the case in the real world. A few additive have been put on like the security lights, a/c unit, and extra roof vents. All the decals are custom made Deve’s Decals and are available for sale in my online store.

(SOLD) MIDDLETON MILLS FROM RDA

First let me say this kit wasn’t to bad, RDA especially the older one are know for their problems … as for this kit the windows didn’t fit properly and every opening had to be trimmed to get them to fit. the draft edges from the molding were quite large and I used a belt sanding to take it down or I’d likely still be sanding them down today. Additionally there was some, but not a lot of flash that needed trimming.

The directions? What direction? None to speak of but it did come with 2 pages of info on Middleton Mills and a few tips and a link to a webpage that no longer exist, but no directions. Now granted this kit is not rocket science and you really don’t need them for the main structure, but it came with an extra sprue of add on and half of them made no sense at all .. I still have a few on there that I don’t know what they are for. (might try to get a pic up later.)

Anyway I’m giving it about 2.5 out of 5 stars – it could be better, it could be worse.

As far as this build goes I’m not sure if this one is finished yet … I think it still needs a little more done.
